What is the off-site depository?
The off-site depository is a storage facility for little used Dewey material from the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library. It is located on South Jefferson Davis Parkway and is closed to the public.
Can I go to the off-site depository?
The off-site depository is closed to the public. Only library staff have access to the facility.
How will I know what is at the off-site depository?
The materials that are housed at the off-site depository have a location of OFF-SITE DEPOSITORY in the library’s catalog.
How can I get materials from the off-site depository?
The Access Services staff will retrieve material from the off-site depository Monday through Friday after 1:00 p.m. Patrons who need materials from the off-site depository will need to fill out an online request form. Paper forms are also available at the Circulation Desk.
How long will retrieval take?
Materials requested prior to 1:00 p.m. Monday- Friday will be available after 5:00 p.m. the same day at the Circulation Desk. Any material requested after 1:00 p.m. will be available for pick up the following day after 5:00 p.m. Any material requested on weekends, holidays, or after 1:00 p.m. on Fridays will be available for pick up the following Monday after 5:00 p.m.
How will I know if the material is ready to be picked up?
Circulation Department staff will notify you only in the case that the material cannot be found. Materials from the off-site storage depository will be available after 5:00 p.m. at the Circulation Desk. Materials will be held at the Circulation Desk for ten days.
Where should I return the materials from the off-site depository?
Materials from the off-site depository should be returned to the Circulation Desk at the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library.
What if I need to request a lot of material from the off-site depository?
Arrangements may be made by contacting the Head of Access Services at (504) 865-5695 or via email hbattle@tulane.edu.
Who can request material from the off-site depository?
Anyone may request materials from the off-site depository.
Who can check out material from the off-site depository?
Affiliates of Tulane University may check out material retrieved from the off-site depository. Below is a list of patrons who will be able to check out materials that have been retrieved from the off-site storage facility. Patrons who do not have loan privileges from the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library may request material from the off-site depository and the material may be used only at the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library. Materials checked out from the off-site depository are subject to holds, recalls, and over dues. Materials may be renewed provided there is no pending hold or recall.
