Citing Your Sources


Slide 1. Not sure how to cite your sources?

Slide 2. The library's website has a page with links to various citation style sites. Click on the Research tab.

Slide 3. Select the Citation & Writing Guides link.

Slide 4. Your professor may require a specific style, so check your assignment or syllabus. Here you will find links to the most common styles.

Slide 5. Let's look at how to cite a book using APA style.

Slide 6. Select the link Documenting Sources: APA Style.

Slide 8. Click on Basic format for a book.

Slide 10. This website gives a description of what to include in the citation and provides an example.

Slide 12. Publisher and place of publication. Date of publication.

Slide 13. Here's what the citation looks like using APA style.

Herrera, G. (2006). Technology and international transformation: The railroad, the atom bomb, and the politics of technological change. Albany: State University of New York Press.

Slide 14. Let's look at how to cite a journal article.

Slide 16. Select Article in a journal paginated by volume.

Slide 17. Again, there's a list of elements needed and an example of a citation.

Slide 18. Here's the article I need to cite. Author. Title. Page number.
